Albi

Located along the Tarn River, 77 km NE of Toulouse, the red-brick city of Albi is renowned as the birthplace of painter Toulouse-Lautrec. In addition to the impressive collection of works by the artist housed in the Musee Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, Albis Cathedrale de Ste-Cecile is a major attraction. A 13th-century masterpiece of French fortress church architecture, the cathedral dominates the city and features lavish interiors which include an ornate choir and a grand-scale fresco depicting the Last Judgment.
