Alsace

Located at the NE border of France, a border formed by the Rhine River, the region of Alsace lies between the mountains of the Vosges and the Black Forest of Germany. The three main towns of Alsace are Strasbourg, a cultural center and the region's capital city; the museum-filled town of Mulhouse, and the wine town of Colmar. A major attraction for visitors is the Route des Vins (Wine Route), which runs 170 km north to south through the region. In addition to Alsatian wines, including Gewurtztraminer, Muscat, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Noir, Riesling, Sylvaner and Tokay Pinot Gris, Alsace is noted for its regional cuisine.
