The Alsace Wine Route winds its way through the region from north to south for 170 km, below the wooded foothills of the
Vosges. Between one gateway at Thann and the other at Marlenheim, visitors can meet the wine growers, taste their wines, visit medieval cities and walk the vineyard trails to admire a panoramic view of the wine-growing area. The seven varieties of wine produced in the region are Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Tokay Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir, Muscat d'Alsace, Sylvaner and Gewurztraminer.
