Housed in the Hopital St-Jean, founded in 1174 as a hospital for the poor, the Musee Jean Lurcat contains the Le Chant du Monde , or The Song of the World , a tapestry series designed by Lurcat in 1957 in response to the Apocalypse Tapestry. It is comprised of 10 panels, the series incomplete due to the artist s death. The first four panels deal with the threat of nuclear war, moving on to tapestries that celebrate the joy of life.
