Search Arras

Located 8 kms north of Arras on the D49, Vimy Ridge was the scene of some of the direst trench warfare of WWI: almost two full years of battle, ending in its capture by the Canadian Corps in April 1917. It is a vast site, given in perpetuity to the Canadian people out of respect for their sacrifices. There is an information center supervised by bilingual Canadian students, who offer free, guided tours of the site.
