Divided into an upper and a lower quarter, the town has a bustling Saturday morning market held in front of the Gothic cathedral of Ste-Marie. Located at the top of a 232-step climb up from the river, the 15th-century cathedral features a magnificent collection of stained-glass windows. The old part of the town, in the upper quarter, is lined with narrow streets that center on place Salinis, which affords a good view of the nearby Pyrenees.
