Located on the right bank of the Loire, 112 miles SW of Paris and 37 miles NE of Tours, Blois was the seat of the powerful counts of Blois during the Middle Ages and became a royal domain in the 15th century. The partially pedestrianized quarter of the Vieux Blois is bordered by the famous chateau (the city s biggest attraction), the cathedral and the river and is lined with cobblestone streets and alleyways laid out in the Middle Ages. Blois may be reached by train from Paris on the Paris-Austerlitz line, a 2-hour trip. The train station is located at place de la Gare.
