Located 359 miles SW of Paris, Bordeaux lies along the Garonne River, 96 km from the river s mouth and east of the wine-growing district of Medoc. The capital of the Aquitaine region, Bordeaux is a major cultural center and a hub for travel between southern France and Spain. The city contains three UNESCO World Heritage Sites, the Saint-Andre Cathedral, the Saint-Seurin Basilica and the Saint-Michel Basilica, all French pilgrim routes of Santiago de Compostela.
