Bordeaux

Located 359 miles SW of Paris, Bordeaux lies along the Garonne River, 96 km from the river s mouth and east of the wine-growing district of Medoc. The capital of the Aquitaine region, Bordeaux is a major cultural center and a hub for travel between southern France and Spain. The city contains three UNESCO World Heritage Sites, the Saint-Andre Cathedral, the Saint-Seurin Basilica and the Saint-Michel Basilica, all French pilgrim routes of Santiago de Compostela. Bordeaux has always been associated with the exceptional quality of its wines, which have left an indelible mark on the city with many sites devoted to the history, production and consumption of this local product.
