Canal du Midi |
Built in the 17th century to provide a link between the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea, the canal runs for 240 km, from the Garonne River at Toulouse to Sete. What was once a commercial waterway is, today, flooded with holiday boaters. Boats are available for rent for a leisurely trip past the villages and vineyards that line the canal. Visitors may also explore the area by bike or on foot.
