Cargese

Located 20 km SW of Porto, Cargese is situated on a promontory between the bays of Sagone and Pero. The small town contains a sizeable population of people who are descendants of 17th-century Greek refugees fleeing Turkish rule, some of whom still speak Greek. Cargese offers many wonderful beaches, perhaps the best (plage de Pero) located 2 km north of town.
