Cathedrale de Notre-Dame-de-lAssomption

Search Clermont-Ferrand

This Gothic cathedral was started in the 13th century and was completed at the end of the 19th century -- the only building of its size ever built with andesitic lava, referred to as Volvic stone . The cathedral houses many spectacular examples of 12th- to 15th-century stained-glass windows, believed to have come from the same workshop as those of Saint-Chapelle in Paris.
