Collioure France

Located 27 km SE of Perpignan, the charming village of Collioure is beautifully situated between two small ports. Three sheltered beaches line the harbor, which is dominated by the massive Chateau Royal designed in the 17th century by Charles V and military architect, Vauban. A visit to the lighthouse at the tip of the northern port affords a spectacular view of the town and its imposing fortress. This brightly colored fishing village on the sea has long been an attraction for artists, most notably Matisse, and art galleries now line the cobbled streets which run through town.
