Colmar France |
Located 44 miles SW of Strasbourg and 10 miles W of the Rhine River along the German border, Colmar is the best preserved city in Alsace featuring many fountains, ancient churches and Alsatian medieval and Renaissance buildings. Its picturesque canal quarter, known as Petite Venise ("Little Venice"), can be explored by boat, and the historic city center is easily traversed by foot. Important during the 16th century as a wine center, Colmar today is a noted stop along the Alsatian Route du Vin.
