Built in 1440, the Dunkirk belfry escaped the almost-complete destruction of the town in 1940. A panorama of the entire town can be enjoyed from the sixth floor of this 65-meter-high building. It is currently separated from the Saint Eloi church, of which it was originally the belltower. (The church houses the tomb of local hero Jean Bart.)
