Located on the Iton River, a tributary of the Eure, 89 km west of Paris and 40 km south of Rouen, the cathedral town of Evreux is noted for its 12th- to 16th-century Cathedral of Notre-Dame. Predominantly Gothic in style, the cathedral contains a remarkable collection of 12th- to 17th-century stained-glass windows and carved Renaissance altar screens.
