Located 35 km S of Colmar near the Swiss border, Mulhouse is primarily an industrial city; however, it does contain a number of interesting museums. Located on the plain between the Vosges mountains and the Rhine river in southern Alsace, the city lies near the beginning of the Jura mountain range and the lesser known Sundgau region, making it a good base from which to explore the surrounding area.
