In 1765 Stanislas founded a royal "pepiniere" (nursery garden) along the fortifications of the town made up of 16 cultivated plots. In 1835 the garden was reorganized and turned into a public park. Today the park includes a children's play ground, a small zoo, a rose garden, mini-golf, a puppet theatre and refreshment facilities.
