Nantes France

Once the capital of Brittany, Nantes is no longer officially part of that region and today belongs to the Pays de la Loire region. The city is situated at the head of the estuary of the Loire River where it is joined by the Erdre and the Sevre rivers, 35 miles from the sea and 239 miles W of Paris. This busy port city unfolds in a variety of styles, from the high-tech buildings near the water's edge to Art Nouveau plazas and a medieval city center. River cruises on the Erdre and Sevre depart from here.
