This red-brick Renaissance mansion was altered in the 19th century to accommodate its use as town hall after the Revolution. The statue of Joan of Arc praying at the foot of the stairs dates from the mid-19th century and is the work of Princess Marie d'Orleans. The gardens at the rear of Hotel Groslot were redesigned and opened to the public in the 19th century. The skillful layout of the pathways and design of the lawns and flower beds disguise the restricted area available for walking. Sections of the 15th-century Saint Jacques Chapel were dismantled and rebuilt in the garden.
