Created in 1977, the 395,000-hectares Parc Naturel Regional des Volcans d'Auvergne encompasses 153 communities. Spreading along a 120-km, north-south axis, it includes La Chaine des Puys, Les Monts Dore, Le Cezallier, Artense and Les Monts du Cantal. Visitors are welcomed and guided by instructive signs, and topographical guides, theme trails and discovery outings are available for more in-depth information.
