Located on the Seine River at the center of the Ile-de-France region, Paris an important European business and cultural center. The city is divided into 20 arrondissements that spiral out from the first, which is centered around the Louvre, containing quarters -- like the Montmartre, Montparnasse and the Marais which form "villages" within the city. Paris has some of the most famous museums and monuments in the world and, because of its wealth of travel sights, tends to overshadow the richly forested area around it.
