Poitou-Charentes

Situated on the Atlantic, with 300 miles of coastline, Poitou-Charentes offers visitors one of the sunniest climates on the western French coast. The countryside surrounding the Charente River may be enjoyed on a self-barge cruise, while the marshland of the 212,000-acre Marais Poiteven National Park can be explored via canoe, river boat or day cruise. A major attraction for many travelers to this region is Cognac, the world-famous brandy produced by the medieval port city of the same name.
