Salers France

Situated atop a steep slope at the edge of the Cantal Mountains, Salers is one of only a few nearly intact Renaissance villages in Auvergne. It is a nice base for exploring nearby attractions, including the Puy Mary, a 1,855-meter-high volcanic peak; the medieval Chateau de Val in nearby Bort-les-Orgues, and the Cere Valley to the south.
