Palais des Rohan
Rohan Palace

Opposite the south portal of the cathedral lies the Palais des Rohan, an elegant 18th-century palace built for Cardinal Armand de Rohan-Soubise, one of several members of his family to be prince-bishop of Strasbourg. Designed by the royal architect Robert de Cotte, it is particularly lovely as seen from the banks of the Ill River. The Classical palace houses three museums: the Musee des Beaux Arts, the Musee Archeologique and the Musee des Arts Decoratifs.
