Situated on the left bank of the Adour River, Tarbes is a good base from which to explore Lourdes, 20 minutes north by train, or the mountainous area to the south of the town. Points of interest include the Jardin Massey, located in the town center, a beautiful park containing many rare plants, and the Musee Massey, situated within the park, which contains an extensive collection of cavalry uniforms.
