Located south of Reims, Troyes is the former capital of the Champagne region. The city contains a number of beautiful Gothic churches, including the Cathedrale St-Pierre-et-St-Paul, the nearby Eglise St-Nizier, the Basilique St-Urbain, the Eglise Ste-Madeleine and the Eglise St-Pantaleon. The citys Old Quarter, with well-preserved 16th-century half-timbered houses lining the pedestrian rue Champeaux, stands in contrast to a more contemporary attraction, the Musee dArt Moderne.
