Located 24 km NW of Nice, Vence is surrounded by countryside dotted with pines, cypress and olive trees. Its Old Town is lined with cafes and boutiques, and the place du Peyra, once a Roman forum, is a popular spot for gathering. Within walking distance from the town center, the NALL Art Association (232 bd de Lattre) provides studios for artists to meet and work and organizes local art exhibitions. On the edge of town, the Chapelle du Rosaire, decorated by artist Henri Matisse, is one of Vences most popular attractions.
