SW of Paris and 20 miles NW of Blois, Vendome is situated on the Loir River, which intersects the town. Vendome was once an important stop for pilgrims en route to Santiago de Compostela in Spain and was the birthplace of Rochambeau, who helped defeat the British at Yorktown, VA, during the American Revolution.
