Search Visit

Located in eastern France between the Alsatian plain and the plateau of southern Lorraine, the Vosges mountain range extends primarily north, running parallel to the Rhine River for 190 km. The slopes are steep in the region of Alsace, gently rounding as the peaks reach Lorraine. The Route des Cretes offers visitors a scenic drive past waterfalls, lakes and the range's forested summits, including the Grand Ballon (1424 m), the highest point in the Vosges. The Alsatian foothills are dotted with vineyards and are home to the Route des Vins dAlsace (Wine Route) of Alsace.
