Located 60 km N of Strasbourg along the German border, Wissembourg is the northernmost town in Alsace. In addition to a number of cycling paths and 225 km of signposted hiking trails, the town's attractions include the church of St-Paul-et-St-Pierre, boasting the second largest Gothic edifice in Alsace and beautiful 12th- to 13th-century stained-glass windows; the Maison du Sel, a 15th-century building located near the River Lauter and the Pont du Sel; the Musee Westercamp, a folk museum housed in a beautifully ornamented former home of a local wine grower, and a section of the original medieval city wall which follows the riverbank along the southern edge of town.
