Bainbridge is located in
Decatur County, of which it is the county seat, southwest of
Albany along Highway 94 on the banks of the Flint River near Lake Seminole in the
Southern Rivers Region of the state. Situated just north of the Florida state line.
Bainbridge was once a river port and lumber town. The heyday of steamboat traffic came just before the Civil War, when two cotton factories operated in the county.
