Blairsville is located in Union County, of which it is the county seat, just south of the North Carolina state line along Highway 19 near Nortley Lake in the [zountai] of the state. Blairsville is situated within the Chattahoochee National Forest.
It was named after Francis Preston Blair, editor of the Washington Globe.
