Cairo is located in
Grady County, of which it is the county seat, just west of Thomasville along Highway 84 near Bennetts Creek in the
Southern Rivers Region of the state. Cairo is just north of the Florida state line.
Major industries include sugar cane syrup and pickle processing. Well-known residents have included Jackie Robinson, first black player in major league baseball.
