Crawfordville is located in
Taliaferro County, of which it is the county seat, west of
Augusta between Thomson and Madison along Interstate 20 on the banks of the South Fork Ogeechee River near the Oconee National Forest in the
Historic South Region of the state. The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 569, a decrease of 8 since 1990.
It was the filming location for 2002 movie, "Sweet Home Alabama".
