Cumming is located in
Forsyth County, of which it is the county seat, northeast of
Atlanta between Coal Mountain and Alpharetta along Highway 19 near Lake Sydney Lanier in the
Mountains Region of the state. The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 5,132, an increase of 2,304 since 1990.
Cumming is part of the Atlanta, Georgia metro area.
