Folkston is located in
Charlton County, of which it is the county seat, just north of the Florida state line along Highway 23 on the banks of the Marys River near the Okefenokee Swamp in the
Coast Region of the state. The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 2,217, a decrease of 68 since 1990.
