Fort Oglethorpe is located in
Catoosa County just south of the Tennessee state line along Highway 27 near Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park in the
Mountains Region of the state. Fort Oglethorpe is part of the
Chattanooga, Tennessee-Georgia metro area.
It was named after James Oglethorpe, founder of Georgia.
