The Georgia Museum of Art at the University of Georgia in
Athens contains a huge collection of natural history, including areas of anthropology, botany, geography, geology, plant pathology, and ecology. Each collection is the largest of its kind in the entire state. It also ranks as one of the top three research/technical/service museums in the southeast, and one of the largest in the country.
Special must-see objects in the permanent collection at the museum include 19th- and 20th-century American paintings, American and European prints and drawings, dating back from the 16th century to present day. The Samuel H Kress Study Collection of Italian Renaissance paintings is a unique exhibit you might not find anywhere else.
