St. Joseph's Hospital, a tradition in
Savannah since 1875, is a 305-bed, general acute care facility situated on Mercy Boulevard on
Savannah's southside. The hospital's mission to care for the sick and injured spans more than 120 years.
In 1997, St. Joseph's Hospital entered into a joint operating agreement with Candler Hospital and together formed St. Joseph's/Candler Health System, the region's largest healthcare provider. St. Joseph's/Candler of Savannah, Georgia is comprised of St. Joseph's Hospital and Candler Hospital, two of the oldest continuously operating hospitals in the United States. They are the largest healthcare system in southeast Georgia and the only faith based and locally managed facility in Savannah. Through groundbreaking innovations in such services as cardiology, oncology, digestive diseases, neurosensory disorders, orthopaedics, women's and children's services and diabetes, St. Joseph's/Candler sets the standards for healthcare in the region.
