Savannah History Museum |
Housed in a restored 19th century train shed at the visitor center on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., occupies the site of a Revolutionary War battle, the 1779 Siege of Savannah. A multimedia exposition chronicles the city's history through a grand museum hall and a videotape presentation.
Exhibits in the museum hall include a model of the SS `Savannah` an 1890 Baldwin locomotive, a cotton gin, one of the Oscars awarded to Savannah native and composer Johny Mercer, military uniforms and natural history and transportation displays.
