Wormsloe Plantation Historic Site |
Located on Skidaway Road, on the Isle of Hope, the plantation was established in 1736 by Noble Jones, one of the 14 colonists who came to Georgia with General James E. Oglethorpe, built a fortified house and cultivated the land. A former colonial home and nature trail is also open, allowing visitors to tour to a living history area. The vestiges of the house, constructed in 1739-45, are all that remain architecturally in Savannah of Georgia's first decade.
A museum presents the excavated artifacts. Hours of operation vary.
