This space center at Kailue-Kona Keahole Airport has a 20 seat theater for showing educational films about space exploration. Exhibits include interactive computers, miniature rockets and feeling the effects of gyroscopic stabilization.

The space center was opened in 1991 in honor of Hawaii's native son astronaut who was killed in the 1986 Challenger explosion. The center is open daily from 8:30am to 4:30pm and a small admission is charged.

Merrie Monarch Festival Hilo HI June7-9 Merrie Monarch Festival is a week-long cultural event held annually in Hilo on the island of Hawaii. Festivities start on Easter Sunday and culminate with the Hula competition events at the Edith Kanaka'ole Tennis Stadium - Miss Aloha Hula on Thursday, Hula Kahiko on Friday, and Hula 'Auana on Saturday.
