W. H. Shipman, Limited

W. H. Shipman, Limited , founded in 1882 and incorporated in 1923, is an old kamaaina (local, of the land) company and a major land owner in Keaau, Puna, Island of Hawaii. Its founder William H. Shipman was born in Lahaina, Maui, to Christian missionary parents in 1854. Willie became a rancher and married Mary Kahiwaaialii Johnson who was descended from John Davis and his Hawaiian wife Kauwe. Members of the Shipman family continue the legacy begun by Willie and Mary over 100 years ago.

Company activities include leasing of land for agriculture, commercial development and leasing, and the W. H. Shipman Business Park offering fee simple building sites.
