This rain forest region receives more than 300 inches of rain annually. It is located 10 miles south of
Hana on Hwy 31. The road is paved but rough and there are no tour services available.
The 'Ohe'o Stream flows through a series of scenic pools where swimming is popular. The Kuloa Loop Trail runs alongside the stream past water falls. The Pipiwai Trail crosses Hwy 31 and follows the south side of the stream.
There is an overlook at Makaahiku Falls and another one 1.5 miles down at Waimoku Falls. The water is cool coming off the hills and hikers and swimmers should beware of flash flooding if waters rise quickly.
