Koloa is located in
Kauai County on the southern coast of
Kauai Island, between
Lawai and
Poipu along Highway 530 near
Kukuiula, the Waita Reservoir, and Nahumaalo Point.
Koloa was established in 1835 and was Hawaii’s first productive sugar plantation town. It quickly became the commercial hub for the island and many of the buildings date back to that time. It is also Prince Kuhio's Birthplace.
