Located near Hilo, a seawall provides a good place to enter the water for snorkeling, swimming, surfing, bodysurfing and net fishing. There are showers, restrooms and lifeguard service. Covered picnic pavilions and paved walkways make a trip to beach convenient. The Richardson Ocean Center is a free interpretive and recreation center with free displays of marine life.
