Maui Sugar Cane Train

Join them as they travel between the resort area of Kaanapali and historic Lahaina. You'll relax in an open-air coach whose nostalgic 19th-century charm recalls the old days of Hawaii. With a blast of its steam whistle, the locomotive chugs along a six-mile stretch of track at a leisurely pace. During your train ride, the Sugar Cane crosses a 415 foot curved wooden trestle whose elevation yields panoramic views of neighboring islands and West Maui Mountains. During your journey, their singing conductor will entertain you Hawaiian-style and point out sites of interest along the way. From December to April, it is a common sight to spot humpback whales frolicking in the warm Pacific waters. Although the sugar cane fields are gone now, the Sugar Cane Train keeps on rolling, preserving Maui's rich sugar cane heritage.
