The Queen's Medical Center, located in downtown Honolulu, Hawaii, is a private, non-profit acute medical care facility. It is the largest private hospital in Hawaii, licensed to operate with 526 acute care beds and 30 sub-acute beds. The medical center has more than 3,200 employees and 1,000 physicians on staff. In 1859 The Queen's Hospital, now called The Queen's Medical Center, was founded by Queen Emma and King Kamehameha IV. Through six generations the medical center has become a major provider of health care to the people of the state and a part of the cultural fabric of Hawaii.
