Mauna Kea Royal Kona Coffee Mill

and Museum

Visitors can sample freshly brewed coffee grown at this farm. There is a photo gallery museum that tells the story of commercial coffee growing on Hawaii the Big Island for 150 years. The orchards are at about 1,200 foot elevation.

The coffee plantations are the only place where coffee beans are grown commercially in the US (although Puerto Rico, a US commonwealth, has a crop also). The coffee grown on Hawaii is generally called Kona coffee.

But connoisuers make a distinction that Kona blend is not pure Kona coffee. This attraction is located above Kealakekua Bay 3.3 miles off Hwy 11 near the area known as Captain Cook.
