Shipwreck Beach |
The Pailolo Channel between Molokai Island and Maui Island has strong currents and coral reefs that caused many shipwrecks. Some WWII era hulks still sit on the reefs. Local inhabitants have used timbers from wrecks to build their houses.
Shipwreck Beach is excellent for beachcombing and fishing from the shore. Because of the currents, it is not recommended for swimming. Roads to the area are extremely rough and only off road vehicles are advised.
Shipwreck Beach is to the north of Lanai City.
